In shocking news today, Nintendo has entered the retro gaming scene by announcing that it is releasing the NES Classic Edition. A mini version of the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System).
This system unlike the retron 5 will not play cartridges, it will come pre-loaded with 30 classic games from the NES library. The Nintendo Classic Edition comes with one NES Pad (controller) but will allow you to connect 2 for multiplayer and will connect to your TV via HDMI cable.
They will also be selling the “new” NES controllers ($9.99) that can also be used with your Wii and Wii U. The NES Classic Edition will be released on November 11th, 2016 at $59.99
Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime comments on the announcement are:
“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place. The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers.”
